Although the start of a new school year is close at hand, it’s still summer. There’s plenty of time left to go swimming in the community pool or maybe to take one more vacation. This is where my family and I escaped the heat in Houston today:
Let’s write haiku about the days of summer this week. Describe some memory from the past or perhaps something that you did over the past several months or maybe a summer activity that you wish you’d done. Put that image into one verse with five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second line, and five syllables in the third line. Here’s what came to mind as I carried our youngest son to the shade:
It’s summer in the
city — the pool water, cool;
the concrete, hot. OUCH!
