Yesterday I posted a sermon about the wisdom of Solomon entitled “Dreams and the Divine Presence,” which I hope you will take a few minutes to read. It brought to mind these words from a song called “The River of Dreams” by Billy Joel:
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the valley of fear
To a river so deep
So let’s write haiku about dreams this week. Whether good, bad, or merely a little — or a lot — odd, certain dreams stay with us long after the alarm clock wakes us. Tell us about it here in one verse with five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second line, and five syllables in the third line, like this:
I dive into the
river of dreams, hoping that
God will speak to me.
Secrets and lies, plain.
The oneiric reveals these
through my own closed eyes.
